The first weekend of December Ike and I traveled to New Orleans. While in the area, I met with several bookstores. I met some great people and am excited that two Christian bookstores will now be carrying God from A to Z. The Gospel Bibles and Gifts Bookstore in Gretna on the West Bank will be carrying the book, and Mule's in Metairie will carry both the book and CD. An Author Signing Event is in the works for the spring of 2018 at the Gospel Bookstore. Check out both of these bookstores if you are in the area and pick up your books and CDs for someone special to you this Christmas.

I received an email this week from a fellow Toastmaster, Adam Traylor, that made my day. It is a great story, and I want to share it with all of you. Adam spent this Thanksgiving holiday with his family in Texas and sent me the following message.
"My mom said that my 3-year-old nephew, Sid, has been requesting that she read your book to him each night before bed or while he eats his dinner. The coolest part is that he's doing this completely on his own. No one even mentioned it and this is the book he's been choosing. She does a great job of teaching him with it. It was an awesome sight to see my nephew learning about our God. I thought you'd enjoy seeing this! Sincerely, Adam" WOW! This is exactly how I envisioned my book would be used. Young children have a need and a desire to know God. Some studies reveal that if children are not taught about God in their early years, it is highly unlikely that they will ever believe in or have faith in God as adults. My book offers a tool to help parents, grandparents and teachers describe and define the God of the Bible in an easy to remember format. In Deuteronomy 6:4-7 the Word says, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your house and on your gates." I am so happy that "Grammy" Linda Traylor is training up this child in the way he should go. And who knows, Sidney Loyd Parks may one day be teaching and preaching about God and His love for us to his family and friends in the next generation. If you struggle with how to explain God or just want a book to supplement your Bible studies, check out God from A to Z. The main thing - and an eternal thing is to teach our children to love God with all their heart, soul and strength. Last Saturday, November 25th I had a great time meeting and greeting customers at The Enchanted Garden while signing and customizing my books to children and grandchildren for Christmas and birthday gifts. If you didn't get a chance to stop by, they have an amazing selection of unique items and of course, more of my books and music CDs on their shelves just waiting for you. They will also gift wrap your purchases for you. Thanks to everyone who supported and shopped small last Saturday at our Shreveport/Bossier small businesses. Mardi Gras comes quickly on the heels of the New Year this year. Deb's brother makes custom Mardi Gras masks, so be sure to check those out when you go. Mardi Gras is early this year on February 13, 2018, the day before Valentine's Day. He also makes a wonderful sweet treat from a secret recipe. He offers a free sample to their customers. Be sure to try it. It's addictive.
The last week of September 2017 began with four days at the Harding Lectureship in Searcy, Arkansas as a vendor with my book. I enjoyed hearing Alan Robertson’s keynote address Sunday night encouraging Christians to take their faith mobile to share it in their communities. I saw several from our area (Special thanks to the Frazier's for buying several books and the Winget family, who shared the book with many at the lectureship.) who made the trip. I also enjoyed meeting new friends and learning about their ministries. My book was well-received and a couple of people expressed an interest in it being carried in their Christian bookstores in Oregon and Alabama. Some plan on using my book in their Bible classes. On Wednesday, I was happy to hear Jim McGuiggan speak about God’s faithfulness and love for us. At 80, his passion for preaching the gospel is only growing more enthusiastic. I’m so glad that my mom was able to make the trip with me. She was a great help and good company. Below is the winner of our drawing for a book and CD. On Thursday, I delivered more books to Deb at The Enchanted Garden since she had sold out. Both the book and CD are back in stock again at The Enchanted Garden, so check it out there and send your friends. Deb has hundreds of pretty and unique items and gift wraps for you too. I’ll be hosting a book signing there on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, just in time for your Christmas shopping. Plan on coming by November 25th, and I will personalize and autograph my books for you. Ike and I had beautiful fall weather in Delight, AR on Saturday, September 30th for their annual Music Fest and Author Signing. Thanks to the Delight Library for their hospitality, lunch, and promotion of Ark-La-Tex authors. I met new friends and was able to “talk shop” about writing and publishing while we shared our books with the community. I’m excited that several area libraries will soon be carrying my book. Throughout the afternoon and evening several bands and soloists performed. All of them were great, and Glen Campbell’s family rounded out the evening as the headliners. I enjoyed hearing Glen’s family sing Wichita Lineman among many other songs. A big thank you to Penny Richards for all she did for the festival, too. It was great to get together with her again, and I’m looking forward to reading her inspirational romance series. Ike and I were also able to visit with Penny’s son, Todd again. I took a nice photo of these two “elder brothers” shown below. Ike and I are so very blessed with godly brothers and sisters in Christ all over this wonderful country. Good times! We can't wait to see and wonder what God and October holds in store for us.
Confetti Park is a children’s media workshop, weekly radio program and podcast based out of New Orleans and hosted by Katy Hobgood Ray. Confetti Park features stories and music spun in Louisiana. By sharing stories, music, and culture, Confetti Park helps build community. Studio performances, interviews, music medleys, story time, jokes, and a bit of lagniappe make Confetti Park a fun and entertaining program. I was fortunate to be interviewed by Katy about my book, God from A to Z, and preform the audio book reading for her program. Click the link below to hear the story time podcast from July 15th. Confetti Park Story Time -- God from A to Z by Robin House As Ike and I travelled through Nashville, Tennessee in early June I had an opportunity to meet with representatives of 21st Century Christian about carrying my book. They are both a publisher and retailer of Christian books and resources. My God from A to Z book and CD will be included in the next 21st Century Christian catalog coming out this fall for the 2018 calendar year. While in Danville, Kentucky for The Great American Brass Band Festival and The Great American Balloon Race, I met with Rob Kernodle, the minister of the Westend Church of Christ. He was very pleased about how the book is designed and can be used in Bible classes and the curriculum guide. I appreciate him sharing the book. Analytics on the first three months since the release of the music CD, God from A to Z, reveal that Jennifer McMullen's arrangements and vocals are being streamed around the world including Switzerland, The Netherlands, Japan, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong. I'm so glad that God is being praised with this music in so many countries. Also in June, Tom Pace invited me to be his guest for a thirty-minute Comcast channel six television interview show about my book, God from A to Z and CD. It aired four times during the month of June in the Shreveport area. Thanks Tom! On June 15th, I had the privilege to share the back story about my book for the first time with a local Rotary Club. It was an honor to speak to and meet their members. Life is a journey. |
